Libraries TransformFirst created in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country. During the month of April, Long Beach residents are eligible to participate in the Overdue Fines Amnesty Program whereby fines will be forgiven for all overdue materials returned to our local libraries. The Long Beach Public Library has approximately 15,800 library items that are overdue and not available for circulation, which represents approximately $267,932 in City property.
