Summer is a great time of year to get together with neighbors. National Night Out was a big success in the 5th District. I'm so happy to hear of so many neighbors getting together to mingle, get to know each other, and discuss opportunities in our neighborhoods. Our best defense against crime is being a community that looks out for each other and reports suspicious activities the moment we see them. Long Beach has been in the news lately. Did you know that the total water usage in the City of Long Beach in the month of July was the lowest since 1958! Thank you for being conscientious during this drought. Let's all keep up the good work! Long Beach was also featured as a Top 5 Summer getaway destination on "The Today Show"! The City was praised for its small-town atmosphere and The Queen Mary was listed as a great place to stay. The segment featured unique places to visit and stay in the last month of Summer.
